Part G of the Building Regulations was successfully launched on 9 June by Communities & Local Government (CLG) at One Great George Street.

Anthony Burd, Head of Technical Policy at CLG launched the first of a series of 5 workshops organised by WRc plc. The briefings were well attended by delegates from a range of backgrounds including local authorities building control, product manufacturers, water industry and training colleges. It offered delegates the unique opportunity to hear what the changes to Part G “Sanitation, Hot Water Safety and Water Efficiency” will mean for them and question government and their technical advisers on the content.

Chairman John Tebbit (Industry Affairs Director for the CPA)  said that “attendees have really learnt something about how the regulations will affect their companies and businesses, which they admit wouldn’t have been the case if they were simply reading through the Part G document.” John added, “in addition to that invaluable experience, they have had a chance to network and establish contacts to take forward.”

Highlights of the event included a practical example of how to use the Water Efficiency Calculator and how the guidance will help companies to comply with the hot water safety requirements whilst achieving both energy and water efficiency. One delegate commented that it was “an excellent and worthwhile session bringing a great deal of clarity”.

Exhibitors at the event included Reliance Water Controls, Multishower, Ideal Standard, Hansgrohe, WRc and WRc-NSF who gained exposure to an ever increasing market of professionals seeking product solutions to help them meet compliance and satisfy customer demand for stylish and cost effective designs.
